Barack Hussein Obama II (born in Honolulu , USA, August 4, 1961 ), known as Barack Obama, is the forty- fourth and current President of the United States. He was a senator for the state of Illinois from January 3, 2005 until his resignation on November 16, 2008 . Furthermore, it is the fifth African American legislator in the Senate of the United States , third from the reconstruction era .
